MagmaChem Magma-Metal Series Model Book Set

by Stanley B. Keith

January, 2001 edition (modified regularly since August, 1995)

The magma-metal series model books were initiated in August 1995 and represent the cutting edge of science at MagmaChem which is continuously evolving. In addition to summarizing the overall approach to magmas and ore deposits (the magma-metal series classification), the magma-metal series model books serve as an introduction and explanatory guide to all MagmaChem products and data bases. The model books are designed at the paradigm level to engage, inform, provoke, and ultimately change the way geoscientists look at rocks and the planet. For the resource industry, application of this new paradigm over an 18 year period has led to a much more efficient, focused, and predictive exploration methodology.

For the resource explorationist, the magma-metal series models serve as a much more specific and predictive taxonomic framework with which to approach resource exploration from regional area selection of a given commodity at the mineral system level to its sought-for ore deposit at the drill-target scale. The model books summarize over 25 years of experience in resource geology research by Stan Keith, 18 years by Monte Swan, and 75 man-years by MagmaChem staff. This work represents direct costs by MagmaChem’s collective client-base of $6,000,000 for the research and indirect follow-up costs by the client-base of $5,000,000 to validate target recommendations.

The above applications to resource exploration have, in effect, constituted a giant, 25-year long, scientific investigation/experiment that is dedicated to testing, validating, and refining the magma-metal series approach within the context of resource exploration and tectonic analysis (see references at http://www.magmachem.com). The magma-metal series approach has also contributed to discoveries of some ten precious- and base-metal porphyry deposits. A number of new, potential discoveries are currently being investigated by the client base (see summary at http://www.magmachem.com).
